t's going to be very tough for you to do a sequel to TT, although you made such a great job with TTGold.
You will need a great story, complex and deep enough to allow you to build multiple levels of difficulty.
I think it's much harder to make a sequel than a whole new thing, because on one hand you have to keep what made the original great but in the meantime you have to bring a lot of new stuff so that the new game won't be predictable. Good luck with that!
What I like most in a game like this is the exploring part, it's like entering in another world, it allows you to dream, to think, to be surprised.

Well, it's a good place to briefly nail down your likes and dislikes here even if you've described it on forums earlier, this way with other people posting we can get the summed up picture.

I liked the complexity of the game, the fact that you are not completely done with an island until the end of the game, you are able to return to the islands and complete new tasks or part of the tasks.
Most of the puzzles were challenging and it's a good thing that you didn't have a skip option. I like a game that you can play and want to play for more than couple of hours.
The collectibles were a good idea, and the fact that were levels that you couldn't access until you have every single item.
I loved the graphic part, all the drawings were so detailed and colorful. TT 2 might take place on the same islands, not that much in the future but still being able to see a lot of changes. You can make an underwater city also.
Look, I know that TT2 could and will be great because you already prooved with the first two games that you have the passion and the intelligence to do it.
Games can be art, not just entertainment, as one of your colegue said.

I think it's a must to keep the combination of puzzle, object hunting and strategy games. I play a little of each (ie Virtual Villagers, etc), and on their own get quite dull after a while. Totem Tribe is the only game that I play over and over and over and over... and over.

You should also definitely keep the gem counter. It has made the game experience much more enjoyable.

Maybe this time around, we could have levels that have a much more diverse set of locations - desert, snow, jungle - with games more specific to those locations.

I too like the fact that there are islands where you might need to come back to finish a task. And an underwater city :)

Frankly, making Totem Tribe better was a huge ask, and you pulled it off wonderfully with Gold. I don't know how you'll top it! But I hope you do, because I'd definitely spend some money on it :)

We will start making a true sequel only if we decide to make it significanly refreshing experience, so maybe we will take a bit different direction. So maybe it wont be played in the same vein as part 1.

    Different how?
I suppose you can't say much, but for the purpose of this post, I think we need to have some idea of how you see a future TT2.

In TT you hit the right spot with a mix of exploring, strategy, battles, puzzles, collectibles, beautiful graphic and you manage to do something very clever and unique . What made it truly original? I don’t know, but since the first time I played TT it became my favourite game ever.
Sometimes I feel there’s nothing more to invent, that everything has already been done, thinked, used by someoneelse. But we are still entertained, because to the old things you can bring a new perspective, you can combine them in new, unexpected ways.
You can also use games, in your case, as a form of expression. Bringing gods and faith into the ecuation( I liked your drowing, btw), actually your game can gain more depth and you gain more liberty, because spiritual world can have different laws by the fizical ones.

berserker whatever direction you will go I will follow. I do like the building a village, fighting the bad guys and finding gems. Give me a goal and I will do my best to finish it.

Even if we do everything right in the first one, there is always whole world of improvements There is always place to do better, a lot better

And right, making it deeper is one of the ways reasonable to pursue cause I was always been impressed by games made as art, not just evening time waster.

I would love a Totem Tribe 2, and I don't think you need to change the formula too much to still have a sucessful game. You only need to look at series like Build-a-Lot or Farm Frenzy to know that the fans will keep playing great games. I loved the Easter Egg hunts in TT and TTG and have replayed both several times. These games aren't like anything else available, so I would definitely give a sequel a try.

Yes, Arw73, you are right. That's what any other company would do - they would just keep on milking successful title. What we want to do - is to take Totem Tribe and put it on the whole new level if we ever decide to start making a sequel. That's why I am encouraging all of you to speak up all your crazy ideas

"if"?? what do you mean IF? don't ask if you don't mean it!

that could play off any of the pools in the guardian moon...each pool could be the source of another game.

if tt2 is similar, i would specifically like to be able to build at least a few buildings at the same much as i like tt/ttg the deeper you get into the game the waiting on buildings to be completed (one at a time) gets to be really frustrating...

as for it being a completely different type of game, i don't think that is necessary tt and ttg ARE different than any of the other franchises out there; i can't think of any other games that do what tt/ttg do... also, if you make tt2 too different you risk losing you fan base.

Yes, of course sequel must have enough similarity not to jeopardize fans of fist two games, but there are always room for improvement, some - evolutionary, some - revolutionary.

I said "IF" cause it is yet undecided. While fans supported us well purchasing TTG release, the income is still far from thinking about retirement. The truth is, if we gonna make sequel the same way as we did with first one, it might be not worth it financially. Therefore currently we are evaluating different ways and possibilities to make it happen and make it profitable.

If we put less resources into it comparing to TT1 it might be bland and I really don't want to make that. But if we will put more resurces we might burn out our budget and there will be no money left to make yet another game.

I really want to turn TT2 into reality, that's why I am considering different options and possibilites.

TT and TTg were wonderful games as said by many the most original game I've ever played and it was so enjoyable to have a game that took not days but weeks to get all the way through that first time. TTG didn't take as long for me as I have kept all of my notes from TT1 so only the new stuff was really challenging.

A new game along the same lines but with different islands would be so great.

I am thinking you could have our hero go to help neighboring lands to rebuild and find the love of her life. Say the Shaman had recieved a message that lands across the water have been beset and they need her experience to help rescue there prince.
Shouldn't she want to find love and help other peoples?

Definitley I would not change the islands being shrouded by fog until explored. Nor would I change the Gems, but I agree about keeping the Gem counter and finding the Magnifying glass pieces not to early or late. All of the mini games were great.

I didn't mind not being able to build more than three buildings without your people being too busy and having to wait for that but I Hated that having a building research stopped all building. I finally learned to start research on all buildings that needed it and then get the buildings started while I explored elsewhere so research could happen in spare time.

Going back and forth to the different islands was wonderful to find other items needed and I loved that you had to complete certain tasks to have new locations even become available (ie lonely iceberg etc).

So yes I am waiting for a TT2 but I also would like it to not be an enhanced version of 1 but a new land to explore with all of the various things to do in TT still it.
Also please keep the gaurd towers as those were the best thing out of gold.

In summary I think that if the settings were changed, so my notes on where to find things and in what order are no longer valid it would be a whole new game without needing to be reinvented as your style was wonderful.

I wouldn't matter to me for a specific example if I still needed to find an aqualung to swim as long as I didn't just need to do the same thing as in TT or TTg to find it.
Maybe I have to battle a dragon who is keeping it in its lair, or destroy an evil mushroom camp and there it is. In a different setting it will still be as much fun as the original as it's the mystery of what will come next that will keep the strong TT enthusists happy.

    Just my thoughts.

Please make a TT2 Please Please, I'll wait 2 years if I have to but I need it. Can we donate to the Budget? I'm willing!!!

What you could do if you need more money while making a true remarkable TT2 is to release some extensions to TTG, let's say a new island every couple of months.
But I don't know anything about making games so I don't even know if it's possible to do something like that.

We released extension to Totem Tribe 1 called Totem Tribe Gold and it took us a year to make Good extensions worth selling might take quite some time, retaining us from focusing on main goal. Anyway, this news post is not about money but about ideas to the possible TT2
