Skull Island not enough bones

I've completed Skull Island, found the hidden valley and killed the Shade, found the coin. There's still a chest I can't open because I don't have enough bones, and I don't see any way to get more. Did I kill the skeletons too fast?

I can't replay the level because you only seem to get that option when you haven't yet met the prime objective.

Is there a way round this?

Don't worry about early killing skeletons. Whatever you do, there always enough bones for both idols and chest. Somewhere they are. Definitely.
Don't forget that bone could be actually a skull.

I had the same problem. I found a bone in a tree and some of those square rock areas. Here's a picture of what I'm referring to.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have been picking up skulls as well as bones. I did find one more bone hidden by a tree branch, and one behind a mountain peak.

I've now gone over the map systematically and repeatedly, looking at every tree, stump, ruined building, and rock and clicking on everything that looked even faintly like a bone or part of one. I've destroyed every one of my own buildings that looked as though it might be hiding a terrain feature.

I'm still one bone short to open the chest.

Is there anything else I can do, short of restarting the game altogether?

I was in the same EXACT situation. I was only missing 3 in order to open the chest. I went over the screen very carefully and slowly. Because the bones in that square rock area weren't white on my screen, but grayish. They really didn't stand out. It took me several days.

The last 3 I found:
1. The tree (screencap already posted)

Keeping clicking inside those square rock areas.

It is possible that you've built a building that hides your bone. You may want to destroy some building to see if it reveals your bone.

I destroyed every building, and eventually found the last bone I needed under a hut. I think (no way to check without replaying the game from the beginning) that it was one of the starting huts, not one I built. Is that supposed to happen?
