Cradle of the North..Dolphin token

I can't place the dolphin token on the pedestal because it's half in the black area of the screen, I don't know how to clear it, the same with the very top middle pedestal which I think is for the Monkey token.
Can anyone tell me how I can clear the area up please?

Build a tower on the shore for the dolphin one. Also you have to build a tower to see the monkey one.

I have two towers and I even torn two down and repositioned them and I can see a gem over there, but it won't grab it. I put the fighting flag and the observing flag both over there and still can't clear enough dark to let me get that gem.
I even tried to get the people out there manually.
How do I get that gem?

If you speak about gems on the left side of the map beyond the water,
you should return for them after you complete the Shark Archipelago level.

Yeah thats what I did. After beating the game for the 3rd time, I started modding it and didn't have to do that stuff. :)
